![]() (The memory chips are all the same size – there may be 1, 2, or 3 additional smaller chips.) this mboard probably can use max 256mb SDram modules in each ram slot, and 256mb modules probably MUST have 16 memory chips – 8 on each side – not 8 on one side – modules with an odd number of memory chips – 9 – on one side or on each of both sides may NOT be supported. – you have incompatible ram installed in the mboard.Į.g. Getting the 162 error SHOULD NOT freeze the bios and prevent you from getting into the operating system on the hard drive, if you have that. Try pressing F10 repeatedly starting just after the memory count starts. ![]() I did some research and it probably IS F10 you need to press to get into the bios Setup, because that’s what it is for the Presario 74xx series. The last PC computers that required that were the early 286 cpu computers that were made in the late 80’s, early 90’s possibly. ![]() This computer DOES NOT require a floppy to access the bios Setup. “I cannot find the bios floppy utility after extensive searching on google and the HP and Compaq Sites.”
